Benefits of different computer systems.

There are a lot of advantages and disadvantages when it comes to buying different devices in this day of age. Here’s a few.

Desktop pcs are not that common as they were few years back, because there are a lot of alternatives to them, that means, that simple office grade computer is not that pricy, one can be bought for less than a £100. Desktop pcs are used for gamers as well, because a lot of laptops cannot run the newest game titles. Good gaming computer run up to a £1000. Desktop pcs are fast, a lot of them are more powerful than the laptops of a higher price. They are accessible for everyone to buy and use. Huge numbers of them are in libraries where people are free to use them if they need to, and they are connected to internet. Desktops are not that portable, they can be moved from one corner to another, but it is not an everyday task, but they are big, so they are not portable.

Laptops in other side are really portable, they have a monitor, mouse and keyboard integrated into them, which means that they don’t need other necessary components instead of the pc. Which makes them really portable because of that. Laptops can also be fast, they can beat some desktop computers when it comes to speed. They can be pricy, but things like chromebooks can be cheap and easily accessible for everyone to buy, and chromebooks most of the time have better battery life than other windows laptops or macbooks. Laptops are easy to access and buy.

Smartphones are the most portable in this list. They are like portable computers, even smaller than PDA’s and don’t need pens or other things in order to use them, only internet if wanted to use online. They are not overly expensive. Decent android smartphone can be priced at £150, high end ones can reach £700, but they all do the same thing. They are accessible to buy everywhere and nearly everyone is using them, because they are that popular and it’s a powerful computer in your palm.

Games consoles were and still are made to play games. There are two types of them, they can be portable or not. The non-portable ones, such as Playstation 4 or Xbox one are not that portable. They can be transferred from one room to another and that’s it. They need TVs and a lot of power in order to use them.  A lot of them need large power bricks to use. But they are fast and they can run newest high end games without big problems. They can also surf the internet. And there are the portable ones like Playstation Vita or Nintendo 3DS. They are not that popular, because a lot of games are made for smartphones which are more portable platform. They are accessible for people to buy and can access internet and things and play games online. They can be pricy, some of them starting from £150 and going higher gives you more storage to save games, etc.

Tablets. They are like laptops, but without keyboard, with touchscreen and smaller. A keyboard can be attached to use them as laptops. Some of them have sim card inputs for a person to use internet on-the-go. They are portable, slim, and easy to use and accessible to buy almost everywhere. They can be pricy and run up to £500, but a solid tablet can be bought for around £200. And they are fast. Some of them are not as fast as smartphones, but some of them are.

Servers. They are fast, because they are responsible for big tasks, such as hosting websites. They are not portable, they are designed to be in the same rack all the time. They can be transferred from one place to another, but servers are fragile and can easily break during not careful carrying process. They can be pricy and run up to tens and thousands of pounds, but small servers can be bought for £400-500. They are not accessible to buy in random shops, because they are usually made for specific people and purposes.

Embedded devices are not just devices. They are integrated into pieces of hardware e.g. TV’s, microwaves, they can be taken out of other devices and sold online or in dodgy hardware stores, but these devices can’t be bought in huge stores. They are not portable, because they are integrated into pieces of equipment.
